The Big Bay comprises 22 square miles, 34 miles of waterfront and five cities—San Diego, Coronado, Chula Vista, National City and Imperial Beach.

San Diego Bay has three islands: Coronado, Shelter and Harbor.

Ten miles of pathways front the Big Bay making the way for walkers, joggers, rollerbladers and cyclists.

The Big Bay has 16 parks, featuring 10 playgrounds that are open to the public 365 days a year.

Three museums—The Maritime Museum, Aircraft Carrier (Midway) Museum and the National City Railcar Museum—are at home at the Big Bay.

For a quick bite or fine dining, there are 69 restaurants on San Diego Bay.

Fifteen hotels, with approximately 6,512 rooms offer visitors a wide choice of accommodations on the Big Bay for extended vacations, business stays or weekend getaways.

San Diego’s Convention Center is located on the Big Bay.

There are more than 200 cruise ship visits to the Big Bay each year. Passengers departing from San Diego Bay set sail for Mexico, Hawaii and even the Panama Canal.

Each year there are 375 cargo ship visits to move goods and materials into and out of San Diego. The National City Marine Terminal serves as a major distribution point for American Honda, Isuzu, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen.

More than 75 ships and submarines are stationed at U.S. Navy installations at the Big Bay.
