San Diego Sunroad Boat Show 2012 PDF Print E-mail

This year’s San Diego Sunroad Boat Show features new and used boats and yachts, plus the latest products and services for boaters of all kind.

The San Diego Sunroad Boat Show, held January 26 - 29 at the Sunroad Resort Marina, will have something for everybody. Many will be surprised to see how affordable boating can be. Come check out all the fun products offered at this year’s boat show.

Directions:
Located on the east end of scenic Harbor Island on San Diego Bay, the show has plenty of parking available with free shuttle transports. The San Diego Sunroad Boat Show is located at the Sunroad Resort Marina located at 955 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego, CA 92101.

Show attendees may park in the lot directly adjacent to the Sheraton Harbor Island Hotel on the corner of North Harbor Dr. and Harbor Island Dr. Parking fees are $10 per day and $20 per day for valet parking. Shuttle service will be available to and from the Sheraton Parking Lot starting one hour prior to the show opening each day and continuing through to one hour after closing.

Big Bay Whale Festival 2012 PDF Print E-mail

The highlight of the January celebration of Whale Days is the Whale Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2011, at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier. The annual Big Bay Whale Festival provides the community with a great place to learn about whale ecology and conservation, and find information about   opportunities to see and interact with the many whale and dolphin species found along our coast. Kids will love the music, face painting and giant inflated whale to walk through.

The free event offers a wide variety of interactive and hands on displays to spark the interest and imagination of any child including a walk-through whale, live sea creatures, face painting, art projects and a bounce house. Back by popular demand, the event’s main stage will feature an array of entertainment throughout the day including:

  • 11:00am-12:15pm  - Jinnah Williams (soloist guitar/singer)
  • 12:15pm-1:30pm - Nadro John (international modern flamenco band with guitar, bongos)
  • 1:45pm-3:00pm – James Gibson Band (5 piece band and singer)

Discounted “Whale Days” cruises will be featured during the entire month of January at Hornblower Cruises & Events and Flagship Cruises & Events along with deals from a variety of Embarcadero attractions and restaurants. The USS Midway Museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego will have “Whale Days” admission specials and money saving coupons will be available for Embarcadero merchants including Anthony’s Fish Grotto, Seaport Village and Old Town Trolley Tours.

Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade 2011 PDF Print E-mail

10:00 a.m. along North Harbor Drive

The scenic, bayside streets of downtown San Diego will come alive with the 2010 Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade.
As always, this exciting family event brings together world-class marching bands, magnificent floats, entertaining drill teams and a procession of enormous balloons — more than any other parade. More than 100,000 street-side spectators will enjoy the parade along with a nationwide television audience.

Parade festivities will begin in the television area with the finals of the annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals and the Bumble Bee Foods 5K. After the parade, activity will continue on with games and entertainment at the free Amtrak Big Bay Family Festival on Broadway Pier.

Parking
Reserved disabled parking will be available to parade attendees by the ConVis International Visitor Center, located at the corner of Harbor Drive and Broadway. Please be advised that Harbor Drive will be closed at 7:45 a.m. and the San Diego Police Department will be checking for proper placards. No cars will be allowed on Harbor Drive after 8:30 a.m. so please arrive early.
